Teacher of the year, SLHS choir's world premiere, student leaders shine

Huge congratulations to Michelle Hamilton, an outstanding educator at Bethel High School, for being named the 2026 WA-FACSE Teacher of the Year! This well-deserved award recognizes her dedication to Family & Consumer Sciences Education and her passion for helping students succeed in school, careers, and life. Middle school leaders prep for the new year
School hasn't even started yet, and the leadership students at Liberty Middle School are already out there making a difference! Fourteen LMS leadership students recently spent the week learning skills to help work with their school community this year! They attended Chinook Middle Level Leadership Camp at Cispus Learning Center. This Association of Washington Student Leaders middle school camp is a huge reason why these leadership students have the communication and planning skills they need to make a difference at Liberty! Well done!

SLHS choir’s world premiere performance
Listen to this incredible spring performance from Spanaway Lake High School's Soprano/Alto Chamber Choir. They performed the world premiere of a piece by South African composer Michael Barrett, making them the first group ever to sing this arrangement. The audio from this recording was selected by the composer himself and will be used by major sheet music retailers for publishing.
